ABOUT
The beloved Princess Zelda of Hyrule has been widely adored by her people since her return to her kingdom three years prior, and it isn't difficult to see why. Even after spending the prior century locked in a divine stalemate with the evil entity known as Calamity Ganon, her dedication to her people and her home has not waned even slightly. In truth, it has only grown as she's become closer with her subjects.
100 years ago, in the time before Hyrule's Great Calamity, Zelda was the latest in a long line of royal women by the same traditional, time-honored name who were fated to be blessed with powers of holy light by the goddess Hylia. With the impending prophecy of Calamity Ganon's arrival, this power which could be used to cleanse evil and seal away darkness was of the utmost importance to the kingdom's survival. As such, Zelda's youth was heavily characterized by imperative training and prayer with the hopes of unlocking this ability in time. However, fate had other plans. Zelda struggled throughout her life to unleash the divine powers that were said to be her birthright. Despite years of dedicated training and devoted prayer, begging the goddess and ancient gods and spirits of her ancestors to awaken her powers, she consistently came up short. This built up feelings of self-loathing in Zelda, paired with the resentment of her fearful subject and tension with her father, but she remained diligent despite her frustrations and even attempted to find other ways to make herself useful.
The Calamity arrived on the very day of her 18th birthday. With her five champions at her side, Zelda trudged into battle without her darkness-sealing power, armed only with her own cunning and the loyalty of her people. Unfortunately, this would not be enough, and four of her five champions were utterly defeated. The battle cost Zelda her father as well and she fell into despair in the arms of her remaining champion, a Hylian swordsman called Link. It was through her grief and her refusal to lose her last champion and dear friend that Zelda was at last unable to unleash her powers. With Link gravely injured, it would take 100 years of Zelda and Ganon locked in stasis while Link was restored to full strength to finally put an end to the Calamity. The two were reunited and together were able to destroy Ganon for good and restore peace and balance to Hyrule.
Since then Zelda and Link have been attempting to lead something of a normal life. They currently share a home in charming Hateno Village, where Zelda has been helping to teach local school children while continuing her research in the archaeological history of Hyrule and helping to orchestrate modern Hyrule's restoration. She is now pending her 21st birthday (not counting the 100 years of statis in between) and so far her efforts have been fruitful. However, a new kind of trouble has been brewing beneath her former home in Hyrule Castle...

PERSONALITY
Zelda is, above all, known for her steadfastness and her wisdom. The people of present-day Hyrule are well aware of her century of service in staving off apocalypse and is often praised for her incredible fortitude. Additionally, she has proven to be a genuinely helpful and likeable individual on a personal level. Zelda is unwilling to stand on formality and communicates openly and casually with her subjects. Her down-to-earth approach is appreciated by all those who work in her service, and many of them happily boast a personal, one-on-one rapport with her. Zelda is also reliably wise, acting as a voice of reason in many situations. Her wealth of knowledge, sound decision-making, and strategic cleverness have often been staples of Hyrule's restoration process. She is kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and connected to her people.
Away from the prying eyes of public image, however, Zelda does still suffer from a great deal of self-doubt. Her youth was fraught with struggles to live up to her potential and her destiny. While she was eventually able to awaken her powers, those feelings can still come back to haunt her at times. She feels an immense sense of guilt for any ill fate that befalls any of her people, especially Link, and is heavily burdened with the weight of responsibility.
At the end of the day, though, Zelda is a profoundly loyal, delightfully gregarious, and endearingly enthusiastic person. Her zeal for study and discovery is incredibly charming. She can also occasionally be quite stubborn and even have a bit of a temper, but not to the point of being entirely unreasonable. Hyrule could not have asked for a better princess.
APPEARANCE
Like the majority of her predecessors from which her name is inherited, Zelda is a Hylian (more or less a type of elf) with golden blonde hair and green eyes. Previously she kept her hair quite long and usually pinned back tightly in the front. However, she has recently cut it quite short aside from the braid-crown wrapping over the top of her head. She often dresses in traditional Hyrulean blue clothing with white accents and emblems of the Holy Triforce. She is not terribly tall, but her physique is lean with some tone to it from extensive horseback riding.
ABILITIES
In terms of magical abilities, Zelda's primary powers are to hear the voices of spirits and to create bursts of divine light which cleanse and dispel evil. Her powers have dwindled over the years that she spent holding Calamity Ganon at bay which left her somewhat worse for wear. As such it would take a great deal of amplification of her powers or another large divine blessing for her to reach full strength again. But she can still create temporary bursts of light that ward off darkness and evil if needed.
Zelda has also honed a number of more mundane skills. Chief among these is scholarly research. Her other noteworthy abilities are horse handling, cooking, horticulture, military strategy, children's academics, basic self-defense combat, and fishing.
